Poor farming methods are the main cause of pesticide pollution. The run off from farms ends up in our water supplies and results in to marine contamination. Many underground water tables already contain pesticides and other chemical pollutants. Pesticides have been detected in drinking water and levels appear to be increasing.
Bathing along much of the world's coastlines has become undesirable and hazardous. Europe, Russia and parts of the United States are particularly bad. Countries in the developing world that use high concentrations of pesticides have particularly bad water pollution problems.
